Steam-fired clean steam generators
- How they work: These generators use high-pressure plant steam as the heat source in a heat exchanger to generate low-pressure “clean” steam from a separate supply of demineralized water.
- Their purpose: They are designed to avoid the chemicals found in standard steam water treatment and create steam for processes that require a higher degree of purity. An example would be a heat exchanger unit where higher-pressure boiler steam circulates on one side to heat and vaporize pure feed water on the other side.
Hot water-fired clean steam generators
- How they work: Similar to steam-fired units, these generators use high-temperature hot water (HTHW) as the energy source instead of steam.
- Their purpose: This is another method to transfer heat from an available plant thermal source to create clean steam for applications where only high-temperature hot water is available. An example would be a heat exchanger that uses hot water from a thermal oil loop or another plant source to generate clean steam.
